13-day adventure getaway package

Day 1 Johannesburg / Lesotho D

On arrival at OR Tambo International you will be met at the door of the plane by your VIP meet and greet and your documents will be handed over to you. You will then be assisted to the Europcar counter to collect your hire car. Your 4x4 Toyota Hilux or similar has been confirmed on super cover with unlimited mileage. The car hire company will charge a R40 contract fee and hold a refundable R2000 fuel deposit. You will then set off for Maliba Mountain Lodge, situated in Tsehlanyane National Park in northern Lesotho for your 3 night stay on a full board basis.

At Maliba Mountain Lodge, visitors to Lesotho can enjoy spectacular scenery seen at its best from the back of a Basotho pony as it takes you through the mountains. Accommodation is in separate, luxury stone and thatched suites, each beautifully appointed and offering spectacular mountain views. The main lodge features a Gourmet restaurant, bar and plenty of discrete areas to relax and enjoy the views or cosy up to a roaring fire.

Day 2 & 3 Lesotho BLD

These days are at your leisure at the lodge. Activities include hiking, horse‐riding, swimming, bird watching, rock climbing, village and cultural tours as well as snow activities in the winter months.

Day 4 Sani Pass B

This morning you will check out of Maliba and will make your way to the Southern Drakensberg where you will check in to Moorcroft Manor for your 2 night stay on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 5 Sani Pass B

Moorcroft Manor is optimally positioned directly on the main route to the Sani Pass which leads into the Kingdom of Lesotho. Access is by 4 x 4 only and a lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa is a highlight on this day trip.

Day 6 St Lucia BD

This morning you will check out of Moorcroft and will make your way to the coast to check in to Makakatana Bay Lodge for your 2 night's accommodation on a full board basis.

Makakatana is the only privately owned safari lodge set on the banks of Lake St Lucia, within the iSimangaliso Park World Heritage Site, the heart of Africa’s largest natural estuary. Set in a dune forest, just metres from the water’s edge, the lodge offers luxury accommodation in just 6 suites. There is a private bush pool, bar, dining deck, boma for bush dinners and a wine cellar in the ‘Old Crab House’.

Day 7 St Lucia BLD

This day is at your leisure. Makakatana offers guests a unique experience when it comes to safaris. Each day explore a different environment of the St Lucia Wetland. Game drives, boat trips and beach safaris are included daily while in addition guests also have the opportunity to partake in whale watching and turtle tours in season, fly fishing and deep sea fishing, scuba diving and bird watching as well as visits to a local Zulu village and basket weavers.

Day 8 Hluhluwe BD

Today you will check out of Makakatana and will make your way to Hluhluwe where you will check in at Thanda Private Game reserve for your 2 night’s stay on a full board basis at the main lodge.

Thanda, meaning ‘love’ in Zulu, unites romantic decadence and exclusivity with Zulu culture and wildlife. The five‐star facilities include a main lodge, tented camp and award‐winning wellness centre. Encounter the abundance of African game including lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard found at Thanda. Day 9 Hluhluwe BLD

Today will be spent at leisure at the safari camp. Game drives are included and are in Land Rovers, allowing clear communication with your ranger and tracker. A typical day on safari would include waking up at sunrise for a morning game drive, the best time to see the animals. You will then return to camp for brunch and a few hours at leisure to have a siesta and enjoy the surroundings. At about mid‐afternoon there will be another game drive through to sunset and then returning to camp for dinner.

Day 10 Mabibi BD

Today you will check out of Thanda and will make your way to Thonga Beach Lodge, set on the pristine shores of the Maputuland coast for your 3 night’s accommodation on a full board basis.

This 24‐bed luxury lodge is the ideal place to discover one of the most unspoilt wilderness beaches left on the African continent. Mabibi is a magical place of coastal forests, grasslands, bush, shimmering lakes and exquisite sandy beaches. Its crystal clear, warm waters offer South Africa’s best snorkelling and fantastic off‐shore scuba diving. Set above a secluded bay, the lodge is nestled into beautiful coastal dune forest with sweeping views of the stunning beach below. The thatched bush suites provide guest privacy and were carefully constructed to ensure minimal impact on the environment.

Day 11 & 12 Mabibi BLD

These days are at your leisure. Activities on offer include snorkelling, scuba diving, marine boat excursions, visits to nearby Lake Sibaya, bird watching, guided wilderness walks, turtle tracking, fishing and visits to a traditional Tsonga Homestead.

Day 13 B

Today you will check out of Thonga Beach Lodge and will make your way back to Johannesburg International Airport or to Richards Bay Airport for a flight to Johannesburg.
